1.Why Sell At Auction

You want to sell your vehicle. Ever got to weekend three or four waiting for prospective buyers to respond to your ad ? Or waited at home for people who were 'definitely interested' and 'definitely coming to have a look' and 'definitely had the money to pay you'? Trouble is they often don't show up.

Why not take your vehicle to the buyer.

At Auto Auctioneers we have hundreds of people a week through our showroom. They are all prospective buyers, requiring to purchase across all vehicle types and all values. And our staff are trained to sell. We know the market. We are one the biggest sellers of second hand vehicles in the Waikato.

We undertake to appraise, book in and promote your vehicle for sale at auction.

YOU WILL ONLY PAY FOR RESULTS. 'NO SALE - NO CHARGE'.

Read on - We'll explain what you need to do to sell your vehicle at Auto Auctioneers.

2. Appraising

When you decide to sell your vehicle drive on down to our showroom.

We are open for appraising Mon-Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm and Saturday 9.30am - 4.30pm.

On Thursday between 4pm and 5pm we hold an auction so avoid this time if possible.

One of the sales team will appraise your vehicle and tell you what they feel you should expect to achieve at auction.

Vehicle appraisals are done on sight-we don't always get the opportunity to drive the vehicles

We value on the basis that the vehicle is mechanically sound. If you are aware of any problems let the consultant know-then he can appraise accurately.

3. Booking In

Once your vehicle is appraised and you wish to book in then you can either do that immediately or if you need to use the vehicle until auction day you can bring it back then. The vehicle must be here by at least 10am on auction day.

We will need details of any finance or encumbrances owing on the vehicle. It is part of our job to ensure these encumbrances are settled so clear title can be passed to the purchaser.

We then ask you to sign the booking in form, which authorizes us to sell the vehicle on your behalf under the hammer at no less than the reserve you have set. We will work with you in establishing your reserve.

If you are booking in the vehicle on behalf of someone else then you will need signed authorisation from them to sell the vehicle.

The vehicle will then go under the hammer at the next auction.

4. Promoting your Vehicle - Free Advertising

Along with general radio advertising promoting our company each auction is advertised and selected vehicles highlighted when one of our consultants goes live on air on auction day.

Each auction is also advertised in the Waikato Times the night before auction.

5. Grooming

We all know that a presenting a vehicle for sale in a clean and tidy state will enhance its chances of selling.

At Auto Auctioneers we are happy to wash and dry the vehicle and blacken the tyres. We provide this service at no cost.

Should you require an interior groom or full valet then we can do this for you but we will charge for this service.

6. At the Auction

Whilst you are more than welcome to attend if you wish you do not have to be present at the auction. We do ask that you are available to be contacted on auction night by phone.

As each car is driven through the auction, the auctioneer calls for bids. Once an opening bid is made he will call for bids upwards usually in lots of $500, $200, $100, and $50. He will indicate to the public what bid amount he is calling.

Once the bidding reaches the reserve you have set then the selling light is turned on. Your vehicle is then on the market. The person with the top bid over your reserve when the bidding stops and the hammer drops is the new owner of your vehicle.

If the bidding stops before reserve price is reached the auctioneer will bring the hammer down and the vehicle will 'pass in'. The consultant will then approach the top bidder, who has the first right to negotiate until 8pm on auction night. If the top bidder wishes to present an offer to you then we will contact you. It is important we can contact you on auction night, as it is always best to be able to complete the negotiation as near to the finish of the auction as we can.

7. After the Auction - Paying Out

Once your vehicle is sold then the purchaser is required to complete the purchase and pay in full by the end of the following business day. Sometimes people arranging finance require an additional day to complete but we keep in touch with you about this. Generally though if your vehicle is sold at a Wednesday auction then you can pick your cheque up from us on Friday at about 3pm. If sold at a Thursday auction then the cheque is sometimes available on Friday about 3pm but may not be available until Monday at about 3pm.

This cheque will be for the gross sale price of the vehicle less
